Gravid reticence
Seachange of promise and loss
Snow dots the landscape

It was such a pretty snowy morning. I couldn’t resist taking a quick picture and the words just fell out of me.

~*~
It was such a pretty snowy morning. I couldn’t resist taking a quick picture and the words just fell out of me.
Lovely girl sitting on her swing, swing, swing…
Dark hair shadows her face like string, string, string.
~*~
Her feet kick out and she goes high, high, high…
Faster and faster, into the night sky, sky, sky.
~*~
Softly, she whispers about a hole, hole, hole…
Where she should have had a soul, soul, soul.
~*~
Her deadened eyes stare into mine, mine, mine…
Something about her brings about the shine, shine, shine.
~*~
Around her mutters, with your soul I would be complete, eat, eat…
With those words, I beat a hasty retreat, treat, treat.
~*~
But who knew that lonely girls could float, float, float.
I felt her cold fingers around my throat, throat, throat…
~*~
As I fade away, I feel her kiss, kiss, kiss.
Her bony hand takes mine into the abyss, abyss, abyss…
~*~
The lovely girl was just skin and bone, bone, bone…
The lonely girl is no longer alone, alone, alone.
Blood swirls through
from the heart to your veins
Only to cycle afresh and anew.
~*~
Its sanguine scent
while heady and sweet
colors scarlet the bitter brew.
~*~
Risen by the call
of your heart’s heavy beat
and the splash of tears you’ve let slip.
~*~
Returned, I have
though my spectral presence
lades your soul with dread.
~*~
While it may be
that I am no more
Romance itself is never dead.

Pumpkin man, pumpkin man
You journey west and to the hills
Your stick legs carry you far and away
Pumpkin man, pumpkin man
Seasons have changed, autumn has come
The people bay and call for your blood
Pumpkin man, pumpkin man
It’s the time of the Harvest Moon
The torches are burning, run for your life
Pumpkin man, pumpkin man
Are you okay? You’ve turned part of your stem
Into a staff and can barely continue on your way
Pumpkin man, pumpkin man
It was a valiant try but your head has rotted out
And your twig limbs have become too dry
Pumpkin man, pumpkin man
May your seeds take to the earth
So that you may live another day

Aliens and teddy bears
Occupy the mind at night
Hidden deep below the stairs
Extinguished of all light
Visitations from monsters
Hesitation, flight or fight?
Circled like a table of mobsters
Pistols drawn below the surface
Trapped like a tankful of lobsters
Claws made useless on purpose
Choices in all directions
Struggling through it all like a circus
Fists up and smile wide
Life wasn’t meant to come with a guide.

Fried egg in the pan
Is it like being on drugs?
Not when you’re around
Mmm, you smell so good
I just want to eat you up
Don’t take it that way
Friends are like bacon
Sweet, smoky and a bit crispy
Where did Bobby go?

Portal through a washing machine
To another world that doesn’t care
Where everything is just as bad
The grass ain’t greener, I declare
There isn’t much else left to compare
The only plus is all the left socks
Instead, the right socks go missing
Perhaps that’s the only real difference
The governments and the world are dehiscing
And the people are just as dismissing
It’s exactly like here but different
If I were you I wouldn’t bother to go
Now all this could be tales, lies, and hearsay
So let’s be honest for a moment and forgo
If you haven’t been there, what would I know?

I think of you as the night goes by
And wonder if you think of me?
A simple text would do the trick
Or even a quick phone call
Instead, I sit and stare through space
And know you are just down the hall.

His fingertips feel nothing still
Eyes like spheres trapped in cages
No pulse to pump fluids, only the will to live
The future is now
Cold, hard, plastic and metal
Gleaming and smooth
All that is left is brains and fingernails

A simple smile
Loose strands of hair fly free
Beauty in the moment
Memories washed away
As time carries on
